京都を拠点に活動する、オランダ出身のテキスタイルデザイナー・Mae Engelgeerによるラグコレクション「AFFIX BLITHE」のローンチを行います。本コレクションは、彼女が描く鮮やかなグラデーションとジオメトリックパターンによるグラフィック作品をもとに、手織りのフラットウィーブ・キリムラグとして制作されたものです。
“Affix（結びつける、繋ぎ留める）”と“Blithe（軽やかさ、朗らかさ）”。この二つの言葉が示す通り、本作では糸を織り、意味を重ね、感情を留める行為そのものが、軽やかで詩的な表現として立ち現れます。
柔らかなグラデーションのストロークや、線・アイコンのモチーフは、ピンクカラーのウールによるハンドステッチによって結び合わされ、すべてが異なる表情を持つ一点ものとして完成します。テクスチャー、パターン、そしてMae Engelgeerの進化し続ける色彩感覚が響き合う、CIBONEとのカプセルコレクションです。
本展では、これらの作品を**「SOFTSCAPE」**と題したインスタレーションとして展開。ラグを壁のように吊ることで空間をやわらかく分節し、鑑賞者を包み込むような風景をつくり出します。触覚的な素材、グラフィック、色彩が交差し、空間そのものがひとつの「柔らかな生態系」として立ち上がる体験をご覧いただけます。
2月6日の金曜日には、アーティストを招いてのオープニングレセプションを開催いたします。

オランダ出身のテキスタイルデザイナー。アムステルダムでキャリアをスタートし、現在は京都を拠点に活動している。
2013年以降、自身の感性とシグネチャーを世界に向けて発信し続けている。
伝統と革新のあいだを行き来する表現を探求し、詩的で繊細な手法から、触感的で空間的なオブジェクトやインスタレーションを制作。色彩やスケール、素材の思いがけない使い方によって、伝統に新たな視点をもたらしている。
現在は日本でクラフトや文化遺産への探究心を深めながら、プロダクトデザインやインスタレーション、公共空間での作品制作など、世界各地のプロジェクトに取り組んでいる。 -

We are launching the rug collection “AFFIX BLITHE” by Mae Engelgeer, a Dutch textile designer based in Kyoto. This collection features handwoven flat-woven kilim rugs created from her graphic works, characterized by vivid gradients and geometric patterns.
“Affix” (to bind, to fasten) and “Blithe” (lightheartedness, cheerfulness). As these two words suggest, the act itself of weaving thread, layering meaning, and capturing emotion emerges as a lighthearted and poetic expression.
Soft gradient strokes and line/icon motifs are bound together by hand-stitching with pink wool, resulting in one-of-a-kind pieces, each with its own distinct character. This capsule collection with CIBONE resonates with texture, pattern, and Mae Engelgeer's ever-evolving sense of color.
For this exhibition, these works are presented as an installation titled **“SOFTSCAPE”**. By hanging rugs like walls, the space is softly segmented, creating an enveloping landscape for the viewer. Experience how tactile materials, graphics, and color intersect, allowing the space itself to emerge as a single “soft ecosystem.”
An opening reception with the artist will be held on Friday, February 6th.

Mae Engelgeer is a textile designer from the Netherlands. She began her career in Amsterdam and is currently based in Kyoto, Japan. She studied textile design at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute and completed a Master’s degree in Applied Arts at the Sandberg Institute. Since 2013, she has continuously shared her personal sensibility and signature with an international audience.
Her practice explores expressions that move between tradition and innovation, ranging from poetic and delicate approaches to tactile, spatial objects and installations. Through the unexpected use of colour, scale, and materials, she offers new perspectives on tradition.
Currently, while deepening her exploration of craft and cultural heritage in Japan, she works on projects around the world, including product design, installations, and works for public spaces.
