NEW LIGHT POTTERYが誕生してから11年。ブランド創設時から作品を紹介してきたCIBONEにて、その歩みをなぞる展示を3月28日(土)より開催いたします。
一般的な照明ブランドとは一線を画し、各地の産地を訪ね、職人や作家とともにものづくりを行ってきたNEW LIGHT POTTERY。数百年にわたり受け継がれてきた技術や、新たな発想や手法によって更新され続ける技術を柔軟に取り入れながら、それらを自分たちのプロダクトへと落とし込んできました。
そうした職人や作家たちのものづくりに向き合う真摯な姿勢に触れるなかで、作り手の感性や技術の背景を伝えていくことこそが、自らのプロダクトの本質に触れることにつながると考え、活動を続けてきました。
光が人々の暮らしにもたらす豊かさ。
その光を際立たせる素材の選択。
そしてデザインを実現するための技術。
それらすべてへの敬意が重なり合い、一つひとつの作品が形づくられています。
本展では、素材や技法に焦点を当てた会場構成とし、制作工程の映像とともに作品をご覧いただける貴重な機会となります。
また、ブランドと親交の深い和紙職人・ハタノワタルによる紙漉キハタノとともに本展のために制作した特別な作品も展示販売いたします。

照明という装置を通して、デザインがもたらす思考の広がり、クラフトへの敬意、そして空間の可能性を伝えてきた彼らの歩みに共鳴しながら、本展ではこれからの光の可能性をお届けします。

2015年に照明デザイナーの永冨裕幸と奈良千寿によって設立された古都・奈良を拠点とする照明メーカー。手仕事にこだわった照明づくりを大切にしています。
陶芸家が自らの手で器を形づくるように、日本各地の熟練した職人たちの手によって一つひとつ丁寧に製作され、その後奈良で組み立てと検査が行われています。
優れた照明こそが空間と雰囲気を生み出し、素材の質が照明の完成度を大きく左右すると考え、真鍮・ガラス・陶器といった高品質な素材のみを厳選して使用しています。

Eleven years have passed since NEW LIGHT POTTERY was born. At CIBONE, which has introduced their work since the brand's founding, we will hold an exhibition tracing their journey.
Distinct from typical lighting brands, NEW LIGHT POTTERY has traveled to production regions across Japan, collaborating with artisans and creators to make things. They have flexibly incorporated techniques passed down for centuries, as well as techniques continually renewed through new ideas and methods, translating these into their own products.
Through engaging with the sincere approach to craftsmanship of these artisans and creators, NEW LIGHT POTTERY has continued its activities, believing that conveying the background of the makers' sensibilities and techniques is the path to touching the essence of their own products.
The richness light brings to people's lives.
The choice of materials that accentuate that light.
And the techniques required to realize the design.
Respect for all these elements overlaps, shaping each individual piece.
This exhibition offers a unique opportunity to view the works alongside videos of the production process, with the venue layout focusing on materials and techniques.
Additionally, special pieces created for this exhibition in collaboration with Wataru Hatano, a washi paper artisan with whom the brand shares a close relationship, will be on display and available for purchase.
A ray of light CIBONE encountered roughly ten years ago.
Resonating with their journey—conveying the expansive thinking design brings, respect for craft, and the potential of space through the medium of lighting—this exhibition presents the future possibilities of light.
- NEW LIGHT POTTERY
- New Light Pottery is a small lighting manufacturer based in the old Japanese capital of Nara. Founded in 2015 by lighting designer Hiroyuki Nagatomi and Chizu Nara, we take pride in our handmade approach to lighting. Much like a potter uses his hands to create pottery, all our lights are made by skillful craftsmen and women around Japan, then assembled and tested in Nara. We believe good lighting creates spaces and moods. We work exclusively with high quality materials such as brass, glass and ceramics because the quality of the material is highly reflected in the final quality of the light.
