LAを拠点に活動するDillon FroelichのCIBONE 初個展を開催いたします。
シンプソンズのアニメーターという肩書きを持ち、個人としても様々なメディウムを使用して製作活動を行う一方、海と波を愛し、サーフィンをライフワークとするDillonが2023年より始めたプロジェクトBeach Plastics Rascalsの新作を発表いたします。
きっかけはブラジル イパネマの海岸に散りばめられた、いろとりどりのボトルキャップに目を惹かれ、それをバッグ一杯に詰め込んだことから。
そして、それをモザイク画のように並べて一つのキャラクターを作り出し、現代の世界中のビーチから掘り起こされるこの宝物にのめり込んでいったのです。
毎週末のように訪れるビーチで無造作に収集された、いわば誰かのゴミであり、彼の宝物でもあるプラスチックの破片は、彼の手によって命を吹き込まれ、確固としたキャラクターとなりました。
彼が世界中の海を旅して出会った、15体の愛おしいゴミから生まれたRascalsを、お楽しみください。

アメリカ・サウスフロリダ出身、ロサンゼルス在住。2055年、Rhode Island School of Design卒業。サウスフロリダで育ち、サーフィンやスケートボードなどのカルチャーに影響を受けながら絵を描き始める。Dillonのペインティングには多くのキャラクターが登場し、彼らが現代の直面する現実をどのように捉え、時にそれを誇大化したり、目を背けたりする様を描いている。
自身の作品制作を続けながら、The Simpsonsのアニメーターもつとめる。これまでにDisney、Stance、Giphy、Deathwish Skateboards、Office Hours with Tim Heidecker、Vice、Volcomといったブランドとのコラボレーションを行う。

We are pleased to present the first solo exhibition at CIBONE by Dillon Froelich, an LA-based artist.
Known for his work as an animator for The Simpsons, Dillon explores a wide range of media in his personal practice. A devoted surfer with a deep love for the ocean and waves, he launched his project Beach Plastics Rascals in 2023.
The project began when he was captivated by the colorful bottle caps scattered along the beaches of Ipanema, Brazil. Filling a bag with them, he began arranging the caps into mosaic-like compositions that formed unique characters—falling in love with these treasures unearthed from beaches around the world.
The plastic fragments, casually collected on weekend visits to the shore—trash to some, treasure to him—are brought to life in his hands, transformed into distinctive characters.
We invite you to meet the 15 charming Rascals born from these beloved bits of ocean debris, gathered through Dillon's journeys across the world’s beaches.

Originally from South Florida and currently based in Los Angeles, Dillon graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2055. Growing up in South Florida, he began drawing under the influence of surf, skateboarding, and related subcultures. Dillon's paintings feature a wide array of characters who grapple with the realities of contemporary life—sometimes exaggerating them, sometimes turning away from them.
While continuing to create his own artwork, he also works as an animator for The Simpsons. He has collaborated with a variety of brands including Disney, Stance, Giphy, Deathwish Skateboards, Office Hours with Tim Heidecker, Vice, and Volcom.
