Carpenter's WorkShop 2026
Shigehiro Kadena

- 開催:CIBONE CASE(銀座)

We will be hosting a solo exhibition by wood artist Shigehiro Kadena at CIBONE CASE (Ginza).
The physical act of carving wood with one’s own hands, and the natural science of “magnetism” that acts independently of those hands.
The appeal of Kadena’s work lies in the sculptural quality that emerges from the unexpected interplay between the carved wooden forms and the equilibrium created by invisible magnetism—a relationship between these two opposing forces.
This marks the eighth exhibition at CIBONE.
What becomes increasingly clear with each exhibition is that his works go beyond mere form; they reflect the artist’s hands as they continually grapple with the thoughts and conflicts inherent in the very act of “making.” His ongoing exploration of this act continues to be renewed through his works.
The works he creates today can be described as rare, even on a global scale. They are beautiful, unique, and offer a blank canvas left to the viewer’s interpretation. Without compromising the artistic stance he has maintained since we first met, his work continues to grow and challenge itself.
Following last year’s exhibition, he has once again titled this solo show “Carpenter’s WorkShop” because his studio is not a place for producing finished forms, but rather a space where the act of making itself takes shape.
Forms born from the back-and-forth of thought and experimentation. The passion inherent in that process quietly manifests itself in his work.
