5月23日(土)より、兵庫県神戸市に拠点を置く木工ユニット CALDERA(カルデラ)の初個展をCIBONE CASE(銀座)にて開催いたします。

彼らの工房は歴史ある商店街の一角にあり、小さなブティックの跡地で制作が行われています。
施工現場で出る端材や樹皮が残ったままの木材など、2人の感性で収集してきた自然物を素材とし、ハンドソーや丸鋸などの最小限の道具を使って、手作業だからこそ生み出せる表情や造形を大切にしながらものづくりを続けています。

彼らが近年制作に力を注いでいる額縁の作品は、既製品のサイズに限りません。
見るものと見られるものを媒介する枠取られた世界は、対象物に新たな意味や価値の転換をもたらし、家具や音楽、洋服を選ぶように個性や表現の可能性を拡張させます。

有名な作品や高価なものかどうかは、重要ではありません。
一度額装した絵や写真を、ずっと飾るのも毎日変えるのも自由です。
あなたにとって大切だと思うもの、おもしろいと感じることを、あなたらしいフレーミングで表現してください。

Starting Saturday, May 23, we will be hosting a solo exhibition by CALDERA, a woodworking collective based in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture.

Their workshop is located in a historic shopping district, where they create their pieces in the former space of a small boutique.
Using natural materials they have collected based on their own sensibilities—such as scrap wood from construction sites and timber with bark still attached—they continue to craft their works using only minimal tools like hand saws and circular saws. They cherish the unique textures and forms that can only be achieved through manual labor.

The framed works they have been focusing on in recent years are not limited to standard sizes.
The framed world, which mediates between the viewer and the viewed, imbues the subject with new meaning and value, expanding the possibilities for individuality and expression just as one might choose furniture, music, or clothing.

It doesn’t matter whether the piece is famous or expensive.
Once a painting or photograph is framed, you are free to display it permanently or change it every day.
Please express what you find important or interesting through framing that reflects your unique style.
