7月31日(金)より、〝いい顔してる植物〟をコンセプトに、独自の美しさを提案する植物屋 叢(くさむら)と、陶芸家 吉田 直嗣(よしだ なおつぐ)による合同展を開催いたします。

植物は器に植えられた瞬間に完成するものではありません。
光を受け、時間とともに変化し、その場所の環境に順応しながら姿自体を変えていく存在です。

本展では、陶芸家・吉田直嗣による本展のために制作された器と、叢が植物の生育環境を起点に設計した、光を内包するオリジナル什器「Kaku」が組み合わさり、植物が正しく生きるための小さな空間がCIBONEの地下に立ち上がります。

吉田の器には、研ぎ澄まされたエッジと、潔い白黒のコントラストがあり、叢の植物が持つ輪郭や生命力を、より静かに、強く引き立てます。

一つひとつの個体が持つ質感、歪み、傷痕、生長の気配を見極めながら、吉田の器と呼応する植物が選ばれ、仕立てられています。

そして「Kaku」に組み込まれた光が、演出にはとどまらない、植物にとって欠かすことのできない生命の条件として機能します。

器と植物と光。

器は植物を支えるもの。
光は植物を育てるもの。

この展示は、植物が生きるための環境を、機能と意匠の両面から捉え直し、洗練された空間として立ち上げる、叢の新たな提案です。

ー植物のかっこよさは、形の面白さだけではなく、その植物が元気に生きていることにあると考えています。叢ではこれまでも、植物が健やかに生きるために人工光を取り入れてきました。
ただ、照明器具が入ることで、空間としての見え方に課題を感じることもありました。今回の展示では、植物を育てるための機能としての光と、空間を美しく整える意匠としての光を、どう両立させるかを考えています。
吉田さんの器とCIBONEという空間があったからこそ、鉢植えと光の関係をあらためて見つめ直し、叢としてひとつの形にする機会になりました。（小田）

ー白、黒、グレーを基本に器の製作をしています。
植物が入って、緩やかな時間の流れとともにある器をイメージして作りました。
食卓に並ぶ器とはまた違う在り方が新鮮で、作る時の気持ちも穏やかに手を動かすことができました。置かれた場所が少し特別な場所になれば良いなと思います。（吉田）

We are pleased to present a solo exhibition by 叢 と 吉田直嗣, an artist based in Okayama Prefecture who creates everyday cutlery and tools using brass.

Drawing on her journey in craftsmanship—which began by assisting her father, the very foundation of her artistic practice—this exhibition focuses on the desires that have emerged over many years of creating everyday objects. It is a pure desire to imprint the traces of her own hands onto her work as a creator, and this exhibition is centered on pieces born from that very sentiment.

The fluid lines and shapes depicted on plates created using the etching technique.
These are by no means contrived patterns, nor were they intentionally crafted for self-expression. They are the result of the accumulated techniques passed down to her, combined with a sense that she, too, wishes to be a part of nature, just like the materials she uses. Therein lies a sensation that quietly settles in the space between familiarity and strangeness for the viewer—a presence that never loses its warmth.

The long-held desire to create, which has resided within him for so long, emerges onto the surface, rooted in the solid technical skills cultivated to enrich daily life. For him, this may represent the completion of a rite of sprouting. Yet the warmth inherent in his expression remains unchanged. In it, we sense a steadfastness that remains a constant anchor in our daily lives, making us want to keep it close by.

On the first day, Ruka Kikuchi will be present at the gallery. Additionally, starting at 3:00 PM, we will host a talk session featuring journalist Naoji Ikai, a close friend of the artist, to discuss the origins of his craft and his thoughts on his creative journey up to the present.
