陶芸家 岡野里香(おかの りか)の、2年ぶりとなる個展をCIBONE CASE(銀座)にて開催いたします。

この2年のあいだに、岡野の作品には、静かな変化が生まれていると感じます。

これまで私たちが岡野の作品から読み取っていたのは、身体と精神のつながりから立ち現れる景色でした。夢と現のあわいで見るような、抽象的で、重くも鮮やかな色彩。その景色は、どこか奥底にある内なる世界から生まれてくるような、色と形でした。

一方、近年の作品から感じられるのは、岡野が暮らす長野・軽井沢の自然との、より深い接続です。
山の中で雷に打たれ、それでも立ち続ける木。崖の縁から、斜めに身体を伸ばして生きる木。激しい風雨や地形の中で、それぞれの姿を獲得していく生命。
そこにある自然は、決して整えられた風景ではありません。むしろ、一つひとつの生命が強く抗い、それぞれの意志を持った彫刻のように存在しています。
岡野は、そうした自然の姿に惹かれながら、その一団の中に自らも身を置くように制作を続けています。

自然を写し取るのではなく、そこに生きるものたちが持つ、それぞれの自我や生命の強度に触れ、自らの手で土をこね、形を探り、色彩を重ねていく。
自然がその美しさを獲得する瞬間の、ほんの一筋の閃光のような何かを感じ、岡野は、その一瞬を自らの手の中に捉えようとしているように思えます。

そして今、彼女の手から現れるものは、自然を表現した作品ではなく、自然とともに生きる一人の人間が、その生命の強さに応答することで生まれたもの。
それは、ひとつの「原自然」として、そこに生きはじめる作品なのかもしれません。

We are pleased to announce a solo exhibition by ceramic artist Rika Okano at CIBONE CASE (Ginza).

Over the past two years, we sense that a subtle shift has taken place in Okano’s work.

What we have previously perceived in Okano’s work were landscapes emerging from the connection between body and spirit—abstract, heavy yet vivid colors, as if viewed at the boundary between dream and reality. Those landscapes consisted of colors and forms that seemed to arise from an inner world lying deep within.

In contrast, what we sense in her recent works is a deeper connection to the nature of Karuizawa, Nagano, where Okano lives.
Trees struck by lightning in the mountains, yet still standing. Trees stretching their bodies diagonally from the edge of a cliff to survive. Life forms that carve out their own forms amidst fierce winds, rain, and rugged terrain.
The nature found there is by no means a manicured landscape. Rather, each individual life form exists like a sculpture—strongly resisting and possessing its own will.
Drawn to these manifestations of nature, Okano continues to create as if placing herself within that very community.

Rather than merely depicting nature, she connects with the individual selves and the intensity of life possessed by the beings that inhabit it; she kneads the clay with her own hands, explores form, and layers color.
It seems as though Okano senses something akin to a single flash of lightning—the very moment nature attains its beauty—and strives to capture that fleeting instant within her own hands.

And now, what emerges from her hands are not works that merely depict nature, but creations born from a human being living alongside nature, responding to the intensity of that life.
Perhaps these are works that begin to live there as a kind of “primordial nature.”
