9月26日(土) より、陶芸家 伊勢崎陽太郎(いせざき ようたろう)の個展をCIBONE(表参道)にて開催いたします。
「メディ陶。」というタイトルの中のメディには「メディア」と「メディウム」の二つの意味を重ねています。
サイン、キャラクター、広告、情報、溢れかえる人格像。
現代のメディア環境は、至極、利己的なイメージが混ざり合い、互いの輪郭さえ曖昧なものにし、本質は意味のないことなのかもしれません。
そんな時代に生まれた、伊勢崎陽太郎のうつわ。
生成AIによって生み出されたイメージが記されたその表面だけを見れば、現代のメディアへの応答として捉えることもできるかもしれません。
しかし、そこにあるのは単なる迎合ではありませんでした。
土や釉薬、火だけではなく、作家自身の価値観、彼に流れる伝統と血、積み重ねてきたヒト的経験。
そして、メディア環境への、ヒト的興味。
それらすべてが陶というメディウムの中で混ざり合い、焼かれ、一つの存在として立ち上がっています。
メディアを受け入れた1人の陶芸家、伊勢崎陽太郎の陶は、何を想い、何を焼き付け、そして何を残すのだろうか。
「メディ陶。」を通して紹介したいのは、表面的現代ミックスメディアの産物ではなく、内在し土に宿る伊勢崎陽太郎そのものなのです。

1995年、岡山・備前にて、重要無形文化財の家系である伊勢崎家の長男として生まれる。
紛れもない自身の血である伝統工芸と、また自身の興味の矛先でもあった漫画やアニメ、またAI、NFTなどのいわゆる現代リテラシーの狭間で葛藤しながらも、備前にて弟子入りし、備前焼の基礎を学ぶ。その後、多治見の意匠研究所に入学。
卒業後、現在は生成AIやデジタルを転写する技術を用いながら、自身のルーツである「備前の伝統」に愛を注ぎながら製作するその姿勢は、国内外で注目を集めている。

Starting Saturday, September 26, we will be hosting a solo exhibition by ceramic artist Yotaro Isesaki at CIBONE(Omotesando).
The title “Medi-Tou.” plays on the dual meanings of “medi”—referring to both “media” and “medium.”
Signs, characters, advertisements, information, and an overflow of personas.
In today’s media environment, highly self-centered images intermingle, blurring even their own contours—perhaps rendering their essence meaningless.
Born in such an era are Yotaro Isesaki’s vessels.
If one were to look only at their surfaces—adorned with images generated by AI—one might interpret them as a response to contemporary media.
However, what lies there is not mere conformity.
It is not just clay, glaze, and fire, but also the artist’s own values, the traditions and blood flowing through him, and the human experiences he has accumulated.
And a human interest in the media environment.
All of these elements blend together within the medium of ceramics, are fired, and emerge as a single entity.
What does Yotaro Isesaki—a ceramic artist who has embraced the media—think about, what does he capture in his work, and what will he leave behind?
What we wish to introduce through “Medi-Tou” is not a superficial product of contemporary mixed media, but Yotaro Isezaki himself—inherent in and dwelling within the clay.

Born in 1995 in Bizen, Okayama, as the eldest son of the Isesaki family, a lineage designated as an Important Intangible Cultural Property.
While grappling with the tension between traditional crafts—which flowed unmistakably through his veins—and his personal interests in manga, anime, AI, NFTs, and other aspects of so-called modern literacy, he apprenticed in Bizen to learn the fundamentals of Bizen-yaki. He later enrolled in the Design Research Institute in Tajimi.
Since graduating, his approach—which combines generative AI and digital transfer techniques while pouring his heart into the “Bizen tradition” that is his roots—has garnered attention both in Japan and abroad.
