東京に生まれ、1996年益子で築窯し今成誠一、青木亮との交流を重ねながら作家としての活動を開始。土の中に埋もれるように窯の中で灰をたっぷりと被り、10日間薪をくべ続ける高温の穴窯で焼き上げることで、窯変した美しい自然の表情が作品に現れます。

The works of Aki Tamiya, a ceramic artist based in Shizuoka, are now available on our Online Store.

Born in Tokyo, Tamiya built her kiln in Mashiko in 1996 and began her career as an artist while fostering relationships with Seiichi Imamitsu and Ryo Aoki. Her pieces are fired in a high-temperature anagama kiln, where they are buried under layers of ash and subjected to 10 days of continuous wood firing. This process results in a stunning, naturally transformed appearance, showcasing the unique beauty of kiln-altered surfaces in her works.
