デンマークを拠点として活動するプロダクトデザイナーKasper Kysterによる Crafting Plastic を開催いたします。

産業革命が生み出したプラスチックという、人々の生活を利便性や生産性の面から激変させた画期的な素材は今の私たちの生活の土台となっていることは間違いありません。一方で現代では環境負荷や、サスティナブルなどの道義的な観点や、安価で消費の象徴という存在ゆえの価値観の喪失といった点から、この素材との向き合い方はモノづくりに関わる人々にとって、大きな課題となっています。

このCrafting Plastic シリーズは、その大きな問題を解決する、ではなく、プラスチックという工業素材を、いかに有機的に表現することで、人々のもの（工芸）に対する美意識の想起への可能性を促しています。あくまで、彼はデザイナーとしての一つの解答として、このプラスチックをアナログ的なハンドメイドで成形を行い、家具という機能へ到達することを目指しました。

今回は先行でご紹介を行ったチェアの他、シェルフやベンチなど、よりそのディテールに心を奪われるラインナップで皆様にご紹介いたします。

We are pleased to present Crafting Plastic by Kasper Kyster, a product designer based in Denmark.

Plastic, a revolutionary material born from the Industrial Revolution, has undeniably transformed modern life with its convenience and productivity. However, today it presents significant challenges for creators, from environmental and sustainability concerns to its loss of perceived value as a symbol of mass consumption and affordability.

The Crafting Plastic series does not seek to solve these immense challenges but rather explores how plastic—a quintessential industrial material—can be expressed organically. This approach aims to inspire a renewed aesthetic appreciation for crafted objects. As a designer, Kasper has chosen to answer this challenge by shaping plastic through analog, handmade techniques to create functional furniture.

In addition to the chairs introduced earlier, this exhibition will feature shelves, benches, and other items that highlight intricate details designed to captivate. We invite you to explore this inspiring lineup.
