今、私たちが生きている社会で起きている、あらゆるひずみ。小野哲平の”つくる”きっかけは怒り、であることは今までも彼の口から語られている通りで、まさに彼も必死で社会とつながろうと抗うことが、今もなお、その手を動かし続ける理由であると感じます。ぜひ小野哲平のうつわをその手で触れてみてください。包み込まれるような感覚と、今を生き抜く誰しもに開かれた、懐かしくもあり最も欲しているものを思い出させてくれるのではないでしょうか。その理由はいたって単純で、一つ一つのうつわは、まごうことなく小野哲平という人間の体から生み出されている、とても強く、そして正直なものであるから。彼はこう話してくれたことがあります。自然と食器棚の前にいつもある、感覚的に手に取ってしまううつわでありたい、そこに自分の仕事の意味があると。

本展示会は、二つの会場での開催となります。都市の一部として、人とモノが行き交う潮流としてのCIBONE、そして今の原宿を体現するテンポラリースペース StandBy。この二つの場所で小野哲平の展示を行うということが、あらゆる人種や世代が行き交う都市において、欠けている必要なものを後世に伝える一つの大きなきっかけとなることを願っています。

2025年5月、小野哲平の二冊目の作品集『TEPPEI ONO: THE WORKS 小野哲平』が建築とデザインの専門出版社ADPより刊行されます。祥見知生プロデュース、菊地敦己ブックデザイン。小野自ら選んだ作品54点をフォトグラファー西部裕介が撮り下ろし。本展において『TEPPEI ONO: THE WORKS 小野哲平』は初披露となるとともに、本書に掲載された一点ものの貴重な作品を展示いたします。この機会にどうぞご覧ください。

- 小野哲平 -: 1958年愛媛県生まれ。鯉江良二氏の弟子を経て常滑にて独立。1984年よりタイ・ラオス・インドなどアジアの国々を旅する。1998年高知に移住。棚田が美しい高知の山あいに住み、めし碗、皿、鉢、湯のみ、日々の暮らしのなかで使われる土のうつわをつくる。薪窯で焼成する力強い作品は、使われて美しく育つ「うつわ」の原点を忘れないやきものであると同時に、現代に生きる人々に問いかける強烈なメッセージでもある。 2010年現代美術家の村上隆氏のカイカイキキギャラリーにて個展開催、以後、国内外、特に中国、台湾で熱狂的な支持を集める。2025年作品集『TEPPEI ONO: THE WORKS 小野哲平』をADPより刊行。

The society in which we live today is undergoing all kinds of distortions. Teppei Ono's trigger for “creation” is anger, as he has said in the past, and I feel that this is exactly the reason why he continues to move his hands in a desperate attempt to connect with society.
Please try to touch Teppei Ono's vessels with your own hands. You will feel as if you are enveloped by them, and they will remind you of something nostalgic and most desired, which is open to everyone who lives in the present. The reason for this is quite simple: each of the vessels is a very strong and honest thing that comes from the body of Teppei Ono, without a doubt. He once told me, “I always find myself in front of the cupboard. He once told me, “I want to make vessels that are always in front of the cupboard, that you can pick up by instinct, and that is the meaning of my work.

This exhibition will be held at two venues. We hope that Teppei Ono's exhibition at CIBONE, which is a part of the city and a trend where people and things come and go, and StandBy, a temporary space that embodies Harajuku today, will be a great opportunity to pass on to future generations what is missing and necessary in a city where people of all races and generations come and go. I hope that Teppei Ono's exhibition at these two places will be a trigger to convey to future generations what is missing and needed in a city where people of all races and generations come and go.

In May 2025, Teppei Ono's second book, “TEPPEI ONO: THE WORKS Teppei Ono” will be published by ADP, a publisher specializing in architecture and design. The book is produced by Shomi Tomoo and designed by Kikuchi Atsumi. Photographer Yusuke Nishibe will photograph 54 works selected by Ono himself. TEPPEI ONO: THE WORKS by Teppei Ono” will be unveiled for the first time at this exhibition, and rare one-of-a-kind works from the book will also be on display. Please take this opportunity to view them.

- Teppei Ono -: Born in Ehime, Japan in 1958. After working as an apprentice of Ryoji Koie, he started his own business in Tokoname, Japan. 1984 traveled to Thailand, Laos, India, and other Asian countries. 1998 moved to Kochi, Japan. In 1998, he moved to Kochi, where he lives in the mountains with beautiful terraced rice paddies and produces clay vessels used in daily life, such as rice bowls, plates, bowls, and teacups. His powerful works, fired in a wood-fired kiln, are pottery that never forgets the origin of “Utsuwa,” which grows beautifully with use, and at the same time, they are a strong message to people living in the modern age. Since his solo exhibition at Takashi Murakami's Kaikai Kiki Gallery in 2010, his works have been enthusiastically received both in Japan and abroad, especially in China and Taiwan. 2025 will see the publication of a collection of his works entitled “TEPPEI ONO: THE WORKS by Teppei Ono” from ADP.
