今回のジュエリーブランドGIFTEDのエキシビジョンテーマとして掲げられた「DEMOCLUXE」という言葉は、”democracy”と”luxury”を組み合わせた造語であり、意訳すると”民主的なラグジュアリー”と捉えることができます。

聞き馴染みのないこの言葉は、ジュエリーをはじめとするあらゆる制作物を飲み込むマーケットの現状、SNSに代表されるような繰り返される過剰な広告や煽動マーケティングによって歪んだ状況に身を置く中で葛藤を続けながら、そのような流れとは一線を引き、あくまで自身の制作したジュエリーと、それらを介して現場で出会うオーディエンスとの当事者性を伴ったコミュニケーションを重ねながら歩みを続ける一人の作り手の立場を表明する言葉だと理解しました。

今マーケットで発生している、真に目をくべるべきモノの強度よりも、我先にと目に入ってこようとするアジテーションめいた情報の類は、長期的に醸成されなければ生じ得ないカルチャーの育みを阻害し、流行という短期的な時間軸を超えられない、というもどかしさが付きまといます。

そんな中で6回目を迎える、もはや彼との共闘とも言える仕事の中で、私たちが未来に残すべきマスターピースとして彼の作品を届ける責任を負う代わりに、まさに命を削りながらものづくりに取り組んできた彼との関係性はより強固なものとなり、そして彼の生み出すジュエリーが緩やかな連帯を伴い、言うなれば民主的な成長を遂げ、この道筋の行く末を見届けてみようという民意を確実に得ていることは見逃せない事実だと感じます。

改めて、今回も展示会を重ねるたびに決して裏切ることのない珠玉の新作と往年のパーマネントコレクションが一堂に並びます。

The theme of this GIFTED jewelry exhibition, “DEMOCLUXE,” is a coined term combining “democracy” and “luxury,” which can be interpreted as “democratic luxury.”

Though unfamiliar at first glance, this term reflects the artist’s position—someone who continues to create while wrestling with the current state of the market, which consumes all forms of creative output, including jewelry, and is distorted by the excessive advertising and manipulative marketing that saturate platforms like social media. Instead of being swept up in these currents, he draws a clear line between himself and the noise, choosing instead to engage in direct, participatory communication with his audience through his work. “DEMOCLUXE” expresses this stance—a maker who walks his own path.

In today’s market, we often see a frustrating imbalance where the intensity and integrity of things truly worth noticing are drowned out by attention-grabbing agitation. These trends, driven by short-term cycles, hinder the cultivation of culture—something that should take shape slowly and organically over time.

As we reach the sixth iteration of what can now be described as a creative alliance with the artist, our relationship has deepened. In exchange for taking on the responsibility of presenting his work as a future-defining masterpiece, we’ve witnessed firsthand the toll that uncompromising craftsmanship takes. Yet, this very dedication has brought his jewelry into a slow, collective momentum—one that fosters a kind of democratic growth. It is a quiet yet undeniable truth that his work has earned public will: a shared desire to see where this path leads.

Once again, this exhibition brings together an outstanding lineup of new works and timeless pieces from the permanent collection—never failing to deliver.
